Paramount Pictures — home to blockbusters like “The Godfather,” “Top Gun” and the “Mission Impossible” franchise — would be combined with Sony’s existing business. They have not yet outlined this plan to Paramount or its advisers. CBS and Paramount have been controlled by the Redstone family for decades, since the media mogul Sumner Redstone assembled the sprawling conglomerate in a series of audacious deals. CNN —Ever since he joined Manchester City in June 2022, Erling Haaland has scored goals and broken records and, on Saturday against Liverpool, the striker continued to make his mark on history by scoring his 50th league goal for the reigning Premier League champion. No player in Premier League history has reached half a century of goals quicker – Haaland doing so in 48 games. The previous record holder Andrew Cole, who played for Manchester United and Newcastle Untied, took 65 games to reach the mark. Haaland scored in the 27th minute to give host City a lead it only relinquished in the 80th minute when Trent Alexander-Arnold leveled for Liverpool. “We played really well, excellent performance,” City manager Pep Guardiola told BBC Sport.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Catcher Luke Maile is guaranteed $3.5 million under his one-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds, which prevents him from becoming a free agent after the World Series. Maile gets $3 million next year, and the Reds have a $3.5 million option for 2025 with a $500,000 buyout under the deal announced Oct. 19.
